Built-ins in Ajax

Built-ins are cabinets and shelving fixed to the room, drawn to the walls they sit against and scribed on site. Ajax is dominated by subdivision houses from the 1990s onward, with a band of older streets near the lake. Older houses with chimney breasts and alcoves are made for built-ins; newer rooms with flat walls gain a place for them from a run of shelving with a lit centre.

Built-ins · Ajax

Ajax, on the ground.

Driveways and attached garages give the crew a clear path, and most installs load in through the garage. Boxes are built and finished in the shop, delivered and scribed to the alcove over [n] days.

Many kitchens in Ajax share the same builder footprint, so the gains come from the corner, the fridge wall and the run under the window.

Built-ins questions from Ajax

Asked before the first call.

Do you build alcove units in Ajax?

Yes. Alcove built-ins either side of a chimney breast are one of the most common jobs in Ajax. Each side is measured separately and drawn as a pair.

Are built-ins in Ajax painted on site?

No. Everything is sprayed in our shop, so the room stays clean and the finish is smoother. Scribe edges are touched up after fitting.

How messy is an install day?

The crew puts down floor protection, works from the truck rather than staging boxes through the house, and cleans up at the end of each day. Old cabinets come out first if we are removing them, and offcuts and packaging leave with us. Dust from countertop templating and plumbing belongs to those trades.

Can you match new cabinetry to what we already have?

We can match a painted finish closely and we can match a door profile. Wood grain and older factory finishes are harder, because they change as they age. The honest answer is that a match is easiest when the new work sits in a different room. We tell you at the sample stage which way it will go.
