Custom millwork is everything a shop can build for a room that a catalogue cannot: built-ins around a fireplace, a wall of panelling, a concealed door, a window seat, a staircase wall of slats. Valmont draws it, renders it in the room and builds it from the same shop as our kitchens, so the finishes match across the house.

Millwork starts with a conversation about what the piece has to do: hold books, hide a television, close off a room, quiet a stair hall. We measure and draw two options where the answer is not obvious.
The rendering settles the proportions before anything is built. Panels and boxes are cut and finished in the shop in [n] weeks, dry-fitted, then installed and scribed on site over [n] days.

What counts as millwork?
Anything built for a specific room from wood and sheet goods: built-ins, panelling, feature walls, concealed doors, window seats, mantels, wardrobes, home office walls. If it is fixed to the house and drawn for the space, it is millwork.
Can you match millwork to an existing kitchen or trim?
Yes. Painted finishes are sprayed to a colour match from a sample you give us, and veneer is chosen from samples in your room's light. Profiles on existing trim can be copied for new panelling.
Do you work from an architect's or designer's drawings?
Yes. We build from their design drawings and produce the shop drawings that add the construction detail. Where a detail cannot be built as drawn we say so before the quote, not on site.
How do you handle walls that are not straight?
We measure the wall at several heights and draw scribe allowances into the end panels and fillers. On site the crew scribes each panel to the wall, so the reveal reads as a straight line even where the plaster is not.
Is custom millwork only for large houses?
No. A single built-in in a condo living room or a window seat in a semi is a common job. The process is the same at any size: measure, draw, render, build, install.
