Custom millwork in East York
East York is small wartime and postwar houses plus Leaside brick, with compact kitchens, low ceilings and the occasional chimney breast mid wall. Century houses ask for panelling that follows existing trim and scribes to plaster; newer houses ask for feature walls and built-ins that give a plain room a centre. Custom millwork is anything built for a specific room that a catalogue cannot supply: built-ins, panelling, feature walls, concealed doors.

East York, on the ground.
Kitchens, laundry rooms, bathroom vanities and built-in shelving in the living room are the usual jobs here. Panels and boxes are cut and finished in the shop, dry-fitted, then delivered and scribed to your walls and ceilings on site.
Because a East York kitchen is often a single closed room, every decision is a trade between counter and storage, and that trade gets settled in the elevations.

No figures published. The drivers, in order.
| Driver | What we look at |
|---|---|
| Square footage of finished face | Millwork is priced by the finished surface and the number of parts behind it. |
| Material and finish | Painted MDF panels sit at one end; sequence-matched walnut and solid fluting at the other. |
| Site conditions | Out-of-square walls, sloped ceilings and bulkheads add scribing and site time. |
| Hidden function | Concealed doors, lighting, drawers behind panels and stone all add parts and trades. |
The number comes from the drawings, line by line. Colour and hardware are the smallest lines on a millwork quote.
Asked before the first call.
Do you take small millwork jobs in East York?
Yes. A single built-in, a window seat or one panelled wall in East York goes through the same measure, drawing and shop build as a whole kitchen.
Can millwork in East York match my kitchen finish?
Yes. If we built the kitchen the finish comes from the same deck and veneer lot. If someone else did, bring a door and we match the colour or species from a sample.
Can I get a full size fridge into a small kitchen without losing the counter?
Usually, but it has to be settled at the drawing stage. We take the fridge depth with the door on, plus the hinge swing, and set the surround so the door clears the neighbouring cabinet. The counter is then recovered on the opposite wall in a run of drawers rather than lost altogether.
How long is the shop stage after we approve the drawings?
[n] weeks in the shop, then a delivery and install window we book from there. Cutting does not start until the site measurements are confirmed and the appliance specs are in hand, because a late appliance change means recutting a box rather than adjusting one.
