Custom millwork in York (Toronto)

York runs from Junction semis to Weston and Mount Dennis detached houses, mostly early last century, with plaster walls and narrow rooms. Century houses ask for panelling that follows existing trim and scribes to plaster; newer houses ask for feature walls and built-ins that give a plain room a centre. Custom millwork is anything built for a specific room that a catalogue cannot supply: built-ins, panelling, feature walls, concealed doors.

Custom millwork · York

York (Toronto), on the ground.

Main kitchens, basement second kitchens, vanities and closets make up most of the work here. Panels and boxes are cut and finished in the shop, dry-fitted, then delivered and scribed to your walls and ceilings on site.

Older houses in York have moved since they were built, so scribe stiles and site-cut fillers are part of the design from the first drawing.

Custom millwork questions from York

Asked before the first call.

Do you take small millwork jobs in York?

Yes. A single built-in, a window seat or one panelled wall in York goes through the same measure, drawing and shop build as a whole kitchen.

Can millwork in York match my kitchen finish?

Yes. If we built the kitchen the finish comes from the same deck and veneer lot. If someone else did, bring a door and we match the colour or species from a sample.

The walls in my house are plaster and nothing is straight. Does that change the job?

It changes time on site rather than the cabinets themselves. We add scribe stiles at the ends of each run and oversize the fillers, then cut them to the wall during the install. The itemized quote carries the install as its own line so you can see what that stage covers.

Will a finished cabinet fit up my narrow staircase?

We check that at the site measure. We take the stair width, the headroom over the flight and the landing turn, then split the run into boxes that make it. If a section cannot go up assembled, it is built to be joined on the landing, with the joint placed where a stile falls so it does not show.
