In a heritage house the cabinetry has to be built for a room that has settled. Doorways are narrow, the ceiling drops under a stair, and floors slope toward an outside wall. We build the boxes square, level them on the plinth, and take the difference in a scribed plinth and oversized end panels. Where original casing is staying, the cabinet is scribed to the moulding so the joint closes without an applied strip covering it.
In the newer parts of Markham the room is square and the run is long, so attention moves to the details: appliance panels, the reveal between doors, a tall bank landing on a clean line and an island sized so both walkways clear. Every part is cut, edged and finished in our shop in Richmond Hill and dry-fitted before delivery. The quote is itemized line by line, so scope can be trimmed one line at a time.
An older house in Markham has usually settled, so the plinth is built to absorb the fall and scribed to the floor once the counter line is set level.

We are in a heritage house in Unionville. Will new cabinetry suit the room?
It can, if the door profile, the plinth height and the hardware are chosen against what is already in the room. We record the trim profiles and ceiling heights at the measure. [Any heritage district requirements] apply to the exterior rather than interior cabinetry, but confirm that with the Town before work starts.
The floor in our old kitchen slopes. Will the counter still be level?
Yes. The counter is set level and the plinth absorbs the fall, then the plinth is scribed to the floor and finished so the difference does not show. We measure the fall along the run at the site visit, which is why the plinth is built taller at the low end than the high one.
Can you do the kitchen and the pantry in one go in a new Markham house?
Yes, and that is the usual request. Both rooms are drawn together, built in the same shop run and installed on the same visit with one delivery. They appear as separate sections on the itemized quote, so you can see what each room carries without them being bundled into one figure.
