Custom cabinetry in Brampton

Valmont designs, builds and installs custom cabinetry in Brampton: kitchens, pantries, mudrooms, closets and basement millwork. Much of the city is recent subdivision housing, which means the kitchen is already large, the main floor ceiling is nine feet, and the builder cabinetry stopped well short of it. Replacing that run with cabinetry built up to the ceiling changes the storage in the room more than moving a single appliance ever will.

Brampton in detail

Brampton, on the ground.

Builder layouts repeat, so walls are square and services sit where the drawings say they do. That makes the measure quick and the install predictable. What varies is what you want added: a servery between the kitchen and the dining room, a bank of tall units on the garage wall, or a bench and lockers in the passage from the garage that developers leave as bare drywall. Those are drawn as part of the same package.

Older Brampton, around the downtown and Bramalea, is a different measure. Those houses have smaller kitchens and eight foot ceilings, and the work is closer to rebuilding the room than replacing a run. Either way, step two is elevations plus a photorealistic 3D rendering, and the quote is itemized line by line. Kam Oveisy designs the run and builds it in our shop in Richmond Hill; the crew measures, delivers and installs.

Because builder cabinetry in Brampton stops short of the ceiling, the quickest gain in storage is tall units run to the underside of the ceiling with a scribe at the top.

Housing

Brampton is largely newer subdivision housing with square walls and nine foot main floor ceilings, plus older and smaller houses downtown and in Bramalea.

Delivery and install

Attached garages and wide driveways make staging easy, and most main floors are a level carry from the door.

Rooms we see most

Kitchen replacements, serveries, pantries, mudrooms off the garage and basement units are the common jobs.

Questions from Brampton

Asked before the first call.

Can you replace the builder kitchen in a newer Brampton house without moving the plumbing?

Usually, yes. If the sink, range and fridge stay where they are, the work is cabinetry and counter only. We hold those positions in the drawings and flag any outlet that has to move for a panelled appliance or an under cabinet light, so the electrician has it in advance rather than on install day.

Our uppers stop about a foot short of the ceiling. Can that space be used?

Yes. Either taller upper cabinets running to the ceiling with a scribe at the top, or a second row of doors above the existing height with a reveal between the two. Both are drawn against your measured ceiling height so you can judge the proportion before anything is ordered.

Do you build the mudroom off the garage?

Yes. The usual package is a bench with drawers under it, a hanging rail or hooks, tall lockers for coats and a tray at the bottom for boots. It can carry the same finish as the kitchen so the two rooms read together, and it sits on the quote as its own set of lines.
