Valmont designs, builds and installs custom cabinetry in Caledon: kitchens, sculleries, mudrooms, libraries and closets. The old stone and brick farmhouses are the careful work. Walls are thick and irregular, window openings are deep, and floors are rarely level end to end. We take levels across the whole run, set the plinth height off the high point and scribe down from there. Where a wall bows, the end panel is oversized and cut to the wall on site. That is decided at the measure, not improvised on install day.
Distance changes the logistics rather than the build. Delivery is by truck to a rural address, and the crew plans one trip with the complete run rather than several partial ones. Everything is cut, edged, finished and dry-fitted in our shop in Richmond Hill before it leaves, so a missing part does not become a return drive. [n] business days between delivery and final fit is typical, and the window is confirmed when the drawings are approved.

Do you come out to Caledon for a site measure?
Yes. Caledon is inside our service area and a rural address is treated the same as a city one, though the measure and the install are scheduled as full days rather than fitted around other stops. [Kam confirms travel arrangements for addresses beyond the usual region.]
The floor in our farmhouse kitchen is not level. How do you deal with that?
We shoot levels along the whole run at the measure. Base cabinets are built square and set on a levelling plinth, so the counter comes out flat and the fall is taken up in the plinth. The plinth is then scribed to the floor and finished, which is why it is built taller at the low end.
What is a scullery and do we need one?
It is a working room behind the kitchen holding the second sink, the dishwasher, the small appliances and the bulk storage, so the main kitchen stays clear. On a Caledon plan with the room to spare it is the single change that keeps the kitchen usable when there are people standing in it.
