Custom cabinetry in Mississauga
Valmont designs, builds and installs custom cabinetry in Mississauga: kitchens, pantries, mudrooms, closets and wall units. Most of the city was built after the war and the plans show it. Rooms are larger, ceilings are eight feet in the older subdivisions and nine in the newer ones, and the kitchen usually opens to a family room. That opening is the real design problem: the cabinetry is furniture in a room people sit in, not a service area behind a door.

In Port Credit and Lorne Park the houses are older and have often been renovated more than once, so what sits behind the drywall stays a question until the site measure. Along the lakeshore and around Square One the job is a condo suite instead, with delivery through a booked service elevator. We size the boxes for the elevator door and the corridor turn, and confirm [typical condo building delivery rules] with the property manager first.
Because the kitchen is seen from the family room, panelling the appliances and running a matched island end panel makes more difference here than it would in a closed kitchen. All of that appears in the elevations and the rendering at step two. Boxes, doors and drawer fronts are cut, edged and finished in our shop in Richmond Hill and dry-fitted before delivery, so the install is a matter of setting and levelling rather than building.
A Mississauga kitchen is usually seen from the next room, so the island end panel and the appliance panels matter as much as where the sink goes.
Mississauga is mostly postwar and later suburban detached housing with kitchens open to a family room, plus older Port Credit and Lorne Park homes and condo towers by the lake and Square One.

Our kitchen is open to the family room. How do we stop it looking like a wall of cupboards?
By breaking the run in the drawing. A tall bank in one finish, an island in another, an open or glass fronted section at one end, and panels on the fridge and dishwasher so the metal does not interrupt the line. The rendering shows the wall from where you will actually sit and look at it.
Do you build the pantry and mudroom at the same time as the kitchen?
Yes, and it is worth doing together. The same materials and hardware carry through all three, and one shop build means one delivery and one install rather than a second visit months later. On the itemized quote each room is its own group of lines, so one can be deferred without redrawing the others.
We are in a condo near Square One. Can cabinetry go in without damaging the common areas?
Yes. We book the elevator and the dock, lay protection down the corridor and across the suite floor, and move material only in the booked window. Any [building certificate of insurance requirement] goes to the property manager ahead of the date so nothing holds up the delivery.
