Custom cabinetry in Georgina
Valmont designs, builds and installs custom cabinetry in Georgina: kitchens, bars, closets and built-ins for Keswick, Sutton, Jackson's Point and the shoreline in between. A large share of the housing started as a cottage and became a year-round house. That history shows up in the framing. Walls were added, ceilings were furred down and floors were levelled in patches, so almost nothing measures the same at both ends of a run.

We handle that by scribing rather than filling. Gables come oversized, the run is set plumb and the difference goes into the scribe against the wall. Rooms on the water also take more light than most, which changes how a finish reads, so we look at door samples in the actual room at the time of day you use it. Sheen matters more here than colour does, and a flat paint that looks calm in a showroom can look chalky by the lake.
The build happens in our shop in Richmond Hill. Boxes, doors and drawer fronts are cut, edged and finished there, then dry-fitted before delivery. Kam designs and builds; the crew measures, delivers and installs. Step two of the project is always elevations plus a photorealistic 3D rendering, and the quote that follows is itemized, so a kitchen, a wet bar and a set of closets read as three numbers instead of one.

Our place started as a cottage. Are the walls going to be a problem?
Not a problem, just a longer measure. Converted cottages usually have added walls and furred ceilings, so we take heights at both ends of every run and check the floor for slope. The cabinets are built square and the wall is met with a scribe. Countertops are templated after the boxes are set.
Can you do a bar for the room facing the lake?
Yes. A wet bar or a dry bar is a normal run for us: base cabinets, a counter, glass storage, a bottle drawer and an appliance panel if you want the undercounter fridge hidden. We ask where people stand when the room is busy, then keep the traffic side clear of doors that swing into it.
Do you work in Sutton and Jackson's Point, not only Keswick?
Yes, all of Georgina. We confirm delivery access before the truck is loaded, because some shoreline lanes are narrow and some driveways drop toward the water. [Kam confirms scheduling for the far side of the lake.] The install itself runs the same way it does anywhere else we work.
