Media walls in Georgina
Much of Georgina's housing began as lakefront cottages and was converted to year-round use, so framing and ceiling heights vary inside a single room. Newer open-plan rooms often need a media wall to give the space a centre; older living rooms usually have a chimney breast the millwork builds around. A media wall holds the television, the fireplace and the equipment in one piece drawn for the room, with the cables inside the millwork.

Kitchens, wet bars, closets and built-ins around fireplaces make up most of the Georgina work. The wall is built and wired in the shop, delivered in sections and installed over [n] days, with the electrician making the final connections.

Can you build a media wall in a Georgina condo?

How long does a media wall take in Georgina?

Our place started as a cottage. Are the walls going to be a problem?
Not a problem, just a longer measure. Converted cottages usually have added walls and furred ceilings, so we take heights at both ends of every run and check the floor for slope. The cabinets are built square and the wall is met with a scribe. Countertops are templated after the boxes are set.
Can you do a bar for the room facing the lake?
Yes. A wet bar or a dry bar is a normal run for us: base cabinets, a counter, glass storage, a bottle drawer and an appliance panel if you want the undercounter fridge hidden. We ask where people stand when the room is busy, then keep the traffic side clear of doors that swing into it.
