Custom closets in Markham
Newer houses take a truck in the driveway and a level carry, while heritage houses have narrow doors and halls that decide how large a box can be. We measure the opening, build and dry-fit the unit in our shop, then deliver and install it, scribing the end panels to the wall on site. A custom closet is built to the wall you have, with hanging, shelving and drawer sections set to what you actually own.

Markham runs from heritage frame and brick houses in the Village and Unionville, with sloped floors and original trim, to newer estate housing in Cornell and Angus Glen. Older houses tend to have narrow, deep closets on a single rod, while newer builds give a wider opening and more height to use above the shelf. Kitchens with pantries, fitted wall units, mudrooms, closets and vanities.
An older house in Markham has usually settled, so the plinth is built to absorb the fall and scribed to the floor once the counter line is set level.

How long does a closet take from measure to install in Markham?
Drawings and a rendering land within [n] days of the measure, the shop build runs [n] weeks after the quote is signed, and install is [n] days. Valmont builds in Richmond Hill and delivers across the area on our own truck.
Can you build into a closet that still has damaged drywall?
Yes, as long as the wall is sound where the cabinets fix. Patching and painting behind the run is easier before we deliver, so we flag anything that needs attention at the measure rather than on install day.
We are in a heritage house in Unionville. Will new cabinetry suit the room?
It can, if the door profile, the plinth height and the hardware are chosen against what is already in the room. We record the trim profiles and ceiling heights at the measure. [Any heritage district requirements] apply to the exterior rather than interior cabinetry, but confirm that with the Town before work starts.
The floor in our old kitchen slopes. Will the counter still be level?
Yes. The counter is set level and the plinth absorbs the fall, then the plinth is scribed to the floor and finished so the difference does not show. We measure the fall along the run at the site visit, which is why the plinth is built taller at the low end than the high one.
