Feature walls in Oakville
A feature wall is fluted or slat millwork set out so the rhythm lands correctly at both ends, with any door in the wall built from the same panel. Kitchens, butler's pantries, dressing rooms, wine storage and whole house millwork are the Oakville norm.

Oakville runs from large houses south of Lakeshore and older pockets in Bronte to newer open plan subdivisions north of the highway, plus downtown condos. Older homes bring plaster walls that are rarely plumb and need packing behind the panels, while newer builds give flat drywall and taller ceilings that suit a full-height run. House deliveries use the driveway, while condo work needs a booked service elevator and the building's own loading rules. We measure the wall and every plate on it, machine and finish the panels in our shop, then install against a checked substrate and hold the shadow gaps constant.
Houses in Oakville that have been renovated before often have floors out of level, so runs are set off a datum line and the plinth is scribed.

Each wall is quoted on its own line off the setting-out drawing, so the panelling, the concealed door and the returns are all visible as separate items.

Can a feature wall be installed in an occupied Oakville home?
Yes. The machining and finishing happen in our shop, so the site work is fixing panels and adjusting reveals. That keeps the dust and the noise in the room for [n] days rather than across the whole project.
Can the wall carry a television or shelves?
Yes, with blocking behind it. We need the bracket details and the screen size at step 01 so the blocking is drawn in and the panel joints fall where the mount will hide them.
Our unit is in a condo downtown. How does delivery work?
Through the loading dock and the service elevator, with the elevator booked ahead and the cab padded. Buildings differ, so we ask for the property manager contact early and work to their rules on hours and insurance. Can you do the dressing room and the wine storage at the same time as the kitchen?
Yes, and there is an argument for it: one design process, one set of finishes and one install mobilization. They stay separate lines on the quote so you can sequence them. Wine storage needs its appliance and its temperature settled early, because the millwork is built around that unit.
