Vanities in Whitby
Whitby ranges from older downtown houses with plaster and narrow stairs to recent subdivisions in Brooklin and the south end. Older bathrooms tend to be narrow with the rough-in already fixed, while newer builds offer a wider wall and room for a double bowl. A custom vanity is built to the width you have and drawn around the plumbing, floating on wall blocking or standing as a furniture piece.

Kitchens, islands, mudrooms and closet build-outs are the steady work in Whitby. We measure the rough-in and the wall, build and finish the vanity in our shop, then set and level it on site so the stone can be templated against the real cabinet.
Open plans in newer parts of Whitby leave cabinet backs and ends in full view, so those faces are finished like fronts.

Can you replace a vanity without retiling the Whitby bathroom?
Usually yes, if the new cabinet covers the same footprint or more. We measure the tile edges and the existing plinth line at step 01 and size the piece so no bare floor or unfinished tile is left showing.
How long is a bathroom out of use?
Only for the install and the stone. The cabinet goes in and is levelled in [n] days, the fabricator templates afterwards, and the top is fitted on their return. Your plumber reconnects once the stone is in.
Our downtown house has a tight stair. Will a tall cabinet fit up it?
We check the stair, the turn and the ceiling height at the landing during the measure. Where a one-piece tall unit will not make the turn, we build it as two stacked sections with the joint on a reveal. It is a normal solution, it is planned in the shop, and it does not weaken the unit.
The kitchen is open to the living room. What do we do about the back of the island?
The back and the ends are treated as visible faces: finished panels, a matching plinth and the same reveal as the doors. Some clients run a slatted or shaker panel there instead of a flat one. It appears as a line item on the quote, because it takes real material and real shop time.
