Vanities in Aurora

A custom vanity is built to the width you have and drawn around the plumbing, floating on wall blocking or standing as a furniture piece. Kitchens, mudrooms off the garage, second floor laundry rooms, closets and wall units.

Vanities · Aurora

Aurora, on the ground.

Aurora has century houses with later back additions in the older core and newer subdivision housing with nine foot main floor ceilings east and north of it. Older bathrooms tend to be narrow with the rough-in already fixed, while newer builds offer a wider wall and room for a double bowl. Driveways are deep and garages attached in the newer areas, while the older core has narrower drives and a step up at the back door. We measure the rough-in and the wall, build and finish the vanity in our shop, then set and level it on site so the stone can be templated against the real cabinet.

Where a Aurora kitchen sits in a later addition, the addition rarely meets the original house square, so the transition is designed as a panelled return rather than a butt joint.

DriverWhat we look at
Floating or furniture styleA floating vanity needs blocking in the wall and a finished underside; a furniture-style piece adds legs and a plinth.
Sink and tap choiceAn undermount bowl, a vessel or a moulded top each change the cabinet, and a wall-mounted tap moves the plumbing before the boxes are built.
Drawers around the plumbingNotched drawer boxes take shop time that a door and a fixed shelf do not.
Finish and door detailA slab door in paint is quicker than fluting, a mitred rail or a machined integrated pull.

The quote is written line by line off the drawings, with the cabinet, the hardware and the stone shown separately so you can see where the money sits.

Vanities questions from Aurora

Asked before the first call.

Can you replace a vanity without retiling the Aurora bathroom?

Usually yes, if the new cabinet covers the same footprint or more. We measure the tile edges and the existing plinth line at step 01 and size the piece so no bare floor or unfinished tile is left showing.

How long is a bathroom out of use?

Only for the install and the stone. The cabinet goes in and is levelled in [n] days, the fabricator templates afterwards, and the top is fitted on their return. Your plumber reconnects once the stone is in.

Do you install in Aurora, or only design and build?

We do all three. The same crew that measures delivers and installs, which is why the boxes match the room. Aurora installs are booked as full days rather than half days because of the drive, so the run goes in over [n] consecutive days instead of visits spread across weeks.

Our kitchen is in an addition on an older Aurora house. Does that complicate things?

It changes the measure. Additions often meet the original house out of square and at a slightly different floor level, so we measure both rooms, record the step and design the transition as a filler or a panelled return rather than pretending the two walls agree with each other.
