Built-ins in Toronto
Toronto's stock runs from century brick semis with plaster walls and dropped bulkheads to level, square condo suites downtown. Older houses with chimney breasts and alcoves are made for built-ins; newer rooms with flat walls gain a place for them from a run of shelving with a lit centre. Built-ins are cabinets and shelving fixed to the room, drawn to the walls they sit against and scribed on site.

Toronto, on the ground.
Kitchens and basement millwork lead the work in Toronto, followed by vanities, closets and built-in wall units in the front room. Boxes are built and finished in the shop, delivered and scribed to the alcove over [n] days.
Cabinetry in Toronto usually has to answer to an older house that has moved, so scribe allowance and site-cut fillers are drawn into the job rather than dealt with on install day.

No figures published. The drivers, in order.
| Driver | What we look at |
|---|---|
| Linear feet and shelf count | Open shelving is the lightest line; closed cabinets with doors and drawers add parts. |
| Site conditions | Chimney breasts, sloped ceilings and out-of-square alcoves add scribing time. |
| Door construction and finish | Painted shaker at one end, veneer or fluted fronts at the other. |
| Lighting and stone | Lit shelves and a stone top on a console add wiring and a fabricator. |
Paint colour and hardware are the smallest lines. Site conditions and what the piece hides set the number.
Asked before the first call.
Do you build alcove units in Toronto?
Yes. Alcove built-ins either side of a chimney breast are one of the most common jobs in Toronto. Each side is measured separately and drawn as a pair.
Are built-ins in Toronto painted on site?
No. Everything is sprayed in our shop, so the room stays clean and the finish is smoother. Scribe edges are touched up after fitting.
My Toronto semi has walls that are out of square. Can you still fit a straight run?
Yes. We measure the room at floor, counter and upper height, then design in scribe stiles and filler at the walls so the doors and drawer fronts line up even when the plaster does not. The fillers are cut on site during the install rather than in the shop, which is why the same crew that measures does the fitting.
Can you work in my condo downtown?
Yes. We book the service elevator and the loading dock through the property manager, protect the corridor and the suite floor, and break the run into boxes that clear the elevator door. [Typical condo building delivery rules] set the hours material can be moved, so we confirm those before the install date is fixed.
