Vanities in Scarborough
Scarborough is largely postwar bungalows and side-splits with closed kitchens, wide lots and limited basement headroom. Older bathrooms tend to be narrow with the rough-in already fixed, while newer builds offer a wider wall and room for a double bowl. A custom vanity is built to the width you have and drawn around the plumbing, floating on wall blocking or standing as a furniture piece.

Kitchens, basement bars and wall units, laundry rooms and bathroom vanities make up most of the Scarborough work. We measure the rough-in and the wall, build and finish the vanity in our shop, then set and level it on site so the stone can be templated against the real cabinet.
In Scarborough the usable height in a basement is set by the ducts rather than the joists, so we measure the lowest point in the room before drawing anything.

Can you replace a vanity without retiling the Scarborough bathroom?
Usually yes, if the new cabinet covers the same footprint or more. We measure the tile edges and the existing plinth line at step 01 and size the piece so no bare floor or unfinished tile is left showing.
How long is a bathroom out of use?
Only for the install and the stone. The cabinet goes in and is levelled in [n] days, the fabricator templates afterwards, and the top is fitted on their return. Your plumber reconnects once the stone is in.
Can you build cabinets to the ceiling in a bungalow with low ceilings?
Yes, and in a small kitchen it is usually the right call. We run the tall units and uppers to the ceiling with a scribe at the top so the joint closes against a surface that is rarely flat. The top row holds what you reach for a few times a year rather than everyday items.
My basement has ducts running across the ceiling. Can I still get a built-in bar down there?
Yes. We measure to the underside of the lowest duct and design the bar to that height, then either box the duct in with a matching panel or stop the uppers short and add a single shelf. The shop build starts once the layout is approved and takes [n] weeks.
