Custom closets in Newmarket
A custom closet is built to the wall you have, with hanging, shelving and drawer sections set to what you actually own. Newmarket combines older frame and brick houses with low basements near Main Street and family subdivision housing spread around them. Older houses tend to have narrow, deep closets on a single rod, while newer builds give a wider opening and more height to use above the shelf.

Garage and driveway access is easy in the subdivisions, and the constraint indoors is usually the basement stair turn rather than the front door. We measure the opening, build and dry-fit the unit in our shop, then deliver and install it, scribing the end panels to the wall on site.
In Newmarket basements the usable height is set by the ducts, so the top of the run is carried at one line across the whole wall.

How long does a closet take from measure to install in Newmarket?

Can you build into a closet that still has damaged drywall?
Yes, as long as the wall is sound where the cabinets fix. Patching and painting behind the run is easier before we deliver, so we flag anything that needs attention at the measure rather than on install day.
Our basement ceiling is low. Is a built-in still worth doing?
Usually, yes, because a low room reads better with storage that stops at one consistent height than with freestanding furniture at four different heights. We set the top of the run under the lowest duct and carry that line across the whole wall, which makes the ceiling look intentional rather than cramped.
Can the cabinetry be brought down our basement stairs?
That is checked at the measure. We take the stair width, the headroom over the flight and the turn at the bottom, then build the run in sections that clear it. Joints between sections are placed where a stile falls, so they are not obvious once the doors are hung.
