Mudrooms in Toronto

A mudroom is lockers, a bench and tall storage built to take boots, coats and daily traffic without looking worn in a year. Kitchens and basement millwork lead the work in Toronto, followed by vanities, closets and built-in wall units in the front room.

Mudrooms · Toronto

Toronto, on the ground.

Toronto's stock runs from century brick semis with plaster walls and dropped bulkheads to level, square condo suites downtown. Older homes usually give a back hall or a landing to work with, while newer builds hand over a purpose-built mudroom between the garage and the kitchen. A downtown install means either a booked service elevator and loading dock or a narrow front hall and a staircase with a tight turn. We measure the entry, build and finish the run in our shop, then deliver, level it on a plinth and scribe the ends to the floor and wall.

Cabinetry in Toronto usually has to answer to an older house that has moved, so scribe allowance and site-cut fillers are drawn into the job rather than dealt with on install day.

What sets the price in Toronto

No figures published. The drivers, in order.

DriverWhat we look at
Run length and locker countEach locker is a set of sides, a back, a rail and a shelf, so the number of bays moves the price more than the overall width does.
Bench and top materialA solid oak bench is a different line from a painted panel, and both are different again from stone over the seat.
Open lockers or doorsDoors hide the mess but add hinges, alignment and a longer finish schedule across the whole run.
Floor and wall conditionAn out-of-level tile floor or a bowed wall means more scribing on site and a taller plinth to work with.

Everything is itemized from the drawings, so the bench, the lockers and the upper cabinets each carry their own line and can be adjusted before you sign.

Mudrooms questions from Toronto

Asked before the first call.

Can a mudroom be built into a narrow back hall in Toronto?

Often yes. A shallow run of hooks, a bench and a tall unit at one end works in a hall where full lockers would block the path. We measure the clear width at step 01 and draw the shallowest version that still holds coats and boots.

Do you build around the garage door threshold?

Yes. The threshold, the step and the door swing are recorded at the measure, and the plinth and end panel are drawn to clear them. Nothing is cut until you have seen it in the rendering.

Can you work in my condo downtown?

Yes. We book the service elevator and the loading dock through the property manager, protect the corridor and the suite floor, and break the run into boxes that clear the elevator door. [Typical condo building delivery rules] set the hours material can be moved, so we confirm those before the install date is fixed.

There is a bulkhead over my kitchen. What happens to the upper cabinets?

Two ways to handle it. We build the uppers to die into the bulkhead with a scribe at the top, or we box the bulkhead into the cabinetry with a matching panel so it reads as part of the run. Both are drawn at your measured ceiling height and shown in the rendering before you choose.
